Every car built after 1995 uses some form of transponder technology. There's a small RFID chip inside the key that sends a unique code to the immobilizer module when you turn the ignition. If the chip code doesn't match what the car expects, the engine cranks but won't start. That's why a $3 hardware-store copy turns the ignition but does absolutely nothing. No chip, no start.

We connect a commercial-grade diagnostic tool to the OBD-II port under your dashboard, access the immobilizer system, and register the new transponder chip to the vehicle. The car accepts the new code. The key starts the engine. Fifteen to thirty minutes, depending on the vehicle make and security tier.

Three main transponder types. Fixed code (older Toyota, Ford) costs $90-130 to program. Rolling code (Honda, Nissan, newer models) runs $120-180. Encrypted European keys (BMW, Mercedes, Audi) range from $150-250 because they require specialized software and longer programming time.
