Residential Locksmith Florida

Rekey, lock changes, smart locks, and lockouts for houses, condos, and rentals

Moving into a new house in Florida? The previous owner kept copies. So did their cleaners, their contractor, their adult kids, and probably a neighbor. A rekey takes 30 minutes per door and costs less than changing a single lock. That one call is the difference between hoping nobody has your key and knowing for certain they do not. We rekey on the day you get the keys, before the boxes even come off the truck.

Seven core residential services cover the full spectrum of home lock work: house lockouts, lock rekey, lock change, deadbolt installation, smart lock install, garage door locks, and mailbox locks. Every job is mobile — we arrive in 15-25 minutes across our 18-city coverage zone, work at your door, and test the locks before we leave. No hauling hardware back to a shop, no waiting for the store to open.

Rekey from $19 per cylinder. House lockouts from $85. Smart lock installation from $90 plus lock cost.

When People Call Us

Real scenarios from the past 90 days of residential calls. Pricing and timing below are typical ranges across our 18 Florida service cities.

Just bought a house — need every lock rekeyed

Standard 3-bed single-family home has 4-6 key-operated cylinders (front door, back door, side entry, garage side door, maybe a master bedroom). Rekey costs $19 per cylinder if keyed alike, $29 if keyed differently. Full house rekey ranges $95-180 total. Takes about an hour on-site.

Locked out at 11pm with no spare

Single-cylinder deadbolt or knob lock — we pick it open in 5-10 minutes without damage. Electronic keypad lock without a battery backup — we bypass through the emergency key override. After-hours call fee is $40 on top of the standard $85 lockout. Most calls finish under $150 total.

Tenant moved out, want fresh keys for the new lease

Landlords on Airbnb, Vrbo, and long-term rentals in Orlando, Kissimmee, and Davenport use us for turnover rekeys. Same-day service, flat $29/cylinder, keyed alike so the new tenant gets one key for all doors. Average turnover rekey is $95-120.

Key broke off inside the lock

Common on older Schlage and Kwikset deadbolts with worn springs. We extract the broken piece with a key extractor tool, test the cylinder, and cut a fresh key on the spot. $85 for extraction plus $15 for a new cut. Takes 15-20 minutes. If the cylinder is damaged beyond the broken key, we rekey or replace.

Why homeowners call us instead of Home Depot

We rekey — Home Depot sells you new locks

A rekey renders every old key useless without replacing the hardware. Costs $19/cylinder vs $40-120 for a new lock. For a 5-door house: $95 rekey vs $400 lock replacement. Same security outcome.

Smart lock compatibility check on the phone

Before you buy a Schlage Encode, August, Yale Assure, or Kwikset Halo — tell us the door type and current hardware. We will say yes, no, or "you need a spacer kit for that door thickness" before you spend $250 on a lock that does not fit.

On-site cut, no trip to a store

Mobile cutting machine in every van. We cut house keys, padlock keys, garage door keys, mailbox keys, and even old skeleton keys from blank. $15 per duplicate, $30 to decode and cut from the lock if you have zero copies.

Fully insured in Florida

The business carries liability insurance. We work on primary residences, rental units, HOA properties, and Airbnb turnovers with documentation landlords actually accept.

Questions We Hear Every Week

Rekey if the locks are under 10 years old and in good mechanical shape. Replace if locks are rusted, sticky, cosmetically outdated, or if you are upgrading to smart locks. Rekey is 3-4x cheaper and achieves the same security result.
