System design is where most locksmiths mess it up. A bad design creates cross-keys, which are unintended keys that open doors they're not supposed to. Pricing scales with the number of doors and hierarchy levels. Basic 5-door master key system costs $200-350. A 10-20 door system with two levels runs $400-800. A 50+ door system with grand master, sub-masters, and individual keys is $1,000-2,500. All prices include lock pinning, every key, and full system documentation. The most common setup is apartment buildings and rental properties. Property manager holds the master key for maintenance and emergencies.
